SANTA CLARA, CA – Last year, the 49ers could not even play at their own stadium for the last 5 weeks of the season because of COVID-19. Santa Clara did not allow events, so the 49ers had to move their team to Arizona to finish out their season. This year, Levi's Stadium is at full capacity and fans are back. 49ers fan, Kristen Foley explains how Santa Clara has kept a tight ship with safety precautions, “Santa Clara County has, as you saw last year, nobody could be in the stadium, so you know that they’re really going to look out for the crowd and look out for the fans and the players and everything.”

Having a full stadium brings all the excitement back to football. Season ticket holder, Brad Whitehead explains why the safety precautions have not been an inconvenience to him. “I think they require the masks for all indoor areas, so if you’re going to the bathroom or you’re in the luxury suites, but it’s an outdoor stadium so that’s one of the benefits.”
Before the season started, NFL commissioner Roger Goodell said: "All of us in the NFL want to see every one of our fans back. Football is simply not the same without fans, and we expect to have full stadiums in the upcoming season." Although, it is not just up to the commissioner. The safety requirements that will be put in place for stadiums are based on the state and local regulations.
Levi’s stadium is not requiring guests to show proof of vaccination however there are still signs reminding fans to put on a mask when indoors to keep them safe.
Kristen Foley explained how she will be careful with the stadium at full capacity, “you know pop on the mask or move away from the situation, but absolutely I feel safe being outside.”
Not only are there signs to keep masks on when indoors, but Levi’s Stadium has hand sanitizer stations placed all throughout the stadium for fans. Staff also have the option to wear a mask if they would like. Levi’s Stadium was also a vaccination site and they had over 350,000 shots administered.
